An escaped soul, resurrected as half man, half raven,
trying to find a way home to help his father and avenge his own death.

Prologue

In a world where souls are part of an endless cycle, sometimes a soul finds a way to break free. If it finds a suitable shell it just might keep living forever… But at the same time, that shell is a prison. A prison which, if broken, breaks a piece of the soul too, leading it to wither and fade away.

Near a small city called Armaala, the son of the head of the Guardians guild has been assaulted and killed by one vicious guardian, in the hopes of climbing the ranks. Full of vengeance and anger, the soul of the son soars through sky trying to find a new vessel… and flies through a flock of ravens just before entering a body of a man, whose own soul has just joined the eternal cycle.

Opening his eyes in his new form, the son realises he is something between a man and a raven. He can’t return to the city as an abomination, but he needs to warn his father. What’s more, the guard who attacked him, has summoned an unwilling soul in the shape of a frog to finish the job.

Details

Raven was born as an inktober 2021 drawing and quickly began to live a life of their own.

The Raven and The Frog, or Korppi ja Sammakko in Finnish, is my first finished comic from Oct-Nov 2021, sketched and inked in my sketchbook. I fixed the panel borders, adjusted values and added rastering with Krita.
