In Autumn 2023 I had the first edition of a zine printed, including two stories of mine: Sounds from the Deep (2022), and Yours, Helen 2.0 (2023).
Both stories have a scifi undertone, but where Sounds leans to (a bit Lovecraftian) horror, Helen is a melancholic love story. Sounds was the first comic, where I seriously processed the story through several steps and really put time and effort to make it the best I could at the time. It still looks beautiful to me. Helen was originally designed and executed in one weekend for Zineton 2023. The version in this zine is remastered, mostly concerning the dialogue. With more time, there could have been more nuances and the story a bit longer, but I feel I managed to create a full background to the story without having to explain everything. Helen gives the reader the climax of the (untold) story arc.
Helen’s original can be read at Zineton’s website. The zine includes also two extra pages of related art and full colour coverart for Sounds. Though it was my first time ordering prints, I was lucky in choosing a local printhouse Monisto, who delivered quality work.
